gscout73, your piping skills blow me away! What gorgeous work! Now, that is cake decorating!
What is Mexican paste? Is it like a gum paste, pastillage???

@SandraSmiley;
Mexican Paste: no softeners in it. It's really good for cutting out letters & numbers.
Very interesting, MBalaska. I've never heard of it before.
gscout73...that is a beautifully piped buttercream cake. And Sandra Mexican paste isn’t really good for a hard, unbreakable structure. Like a picture frame, or making a building. I’ve always used global sugar arts recipe. Easy to make and freezes well.
Thank you all. Mexican paste is a powdered mix from GSA and dries firm and stronger than gum paste. I like it for flowers because it can be thinned out nicely. It also sets quickly. So you do have to be quick but you can work on rows of petals with less set time.
Sounds like something that would work well with a Circut Cake machine.
I got my Cricut Cake from my next door neighbor, who is a fabulous card maker, but never used the one for cake (what was she thinking, she doesn't bake!). Cutting out names is the only thing for which I've used it, using either gum paste or fondant, frozen. I do like it for names, but all the other stuff, to me, is a waste of time.
Sandra I got my Cricut for a fabulous deal on a Black Friday sale. This was before Canadian sites started to participate in Black Friday. So probably 16 or so years ago. I tried to use very thinly rolled frozen gumpaste and fondant. I mean it worked ok, but honestly for all the fiddling around, it was easier to just fashion anything you wanted by hand. To me, the amount of frustration with the Cricut wasn’t worth owning one. I decided t sell mine about a year after I bought it. And I actually sold it just above what I paid. Just to cover the original shipping from USA. So I basically broke even.
Honestly, I would prefer to have an assortment of tappits or other letter/number cutters, but the Cricut has the advantage of being able to give me any size and style I want. Another possible bonus, it will use the same file as any other Cricut and my neighbors, who are card/scrapbookers extradinaire, have every one ever made, literally! They would happily allow me to share. I don't ever see myself using something like that, though, because I like doing it by hand.
Referring to the original title of this post I sure hope not but it is looking more & more like it :( Sooo very discussed w/the horrible spam But then again we have great freedom to say whatever we want now Just wish those who are readers only would speak up! I know there’s probably many of them So why don’t they join in! No one is going to stop you ( unless they use bad language or are beyond rude!)
