I am due to make a friend's themed cake however am struggling to find the right shade purple sugarpaste. I bought some that stated it was purple but is far too pink for my liking. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on colour of food colouring so I can dye my own.

Not knowing what is the shade of purple you want to make, it is hard to help. Do you have a picture you can share with us? In the meantime, I can suggest adding some blue food color in you pink fondant to make it more purple looking. Once your pink turns to purple, you can add purple food color to darken the color if needed. In the first place, do some testing with a small amount of your fondant until you are satisfied with the result. Good luck!
Exactly what Laetia said. Red and blue make purple, so adding a bit of blue to your to-pink fondant should give you purple.
