Would You Like To Work For This Company??

This thing has hit home now..... I live in a senior community- no one under 55 Many activities are held — until now Just got a notice that all activities are cancelled until further notice I really didn’t think about it when I went to a nearby shopping center for bingo yesterday where I won $80 in gift cards from Macy’s! I’m not a big fan of bingo or should say haven’t been:) I figure the next one scheduled for a couple of weeks from now will be canceled Just think of the economic impact this is having on everyone
Yes kakeladi/lynne Everyone has to be vigilante. Our own Prime Ministers wife just tested positive for the virus. So she and PM Trudeau are self isolating for 2 weeks. Running the government by phone!!! Deputy PM taking over. Our province of Ontario has just extended the March school break next week, another 2 weeks. So a full 3 weeks the schools will be closed. Many parents will have to scramble to find babysitters/daycare for there children. Not everyone can work from home. There was to be a memorial for my nephew’s father who passed away few weeks ago. Was slated for 28th of this month. Nephew is postponing the memorial. His wife has immunity issues, and they have to fly from Vancouver, BC to Ontario for the memorial. Too risky for my niece. I am surprised how many families decided to still fly away for the March break here next week. No way would I take that chance. I wouldn’t have taken the risk to expose myself and my children. There talking seriously about closing the borders in USA from cross border travellers. No going between States. Especially from NY state, where there is a huge pocket of infected people. Seniors really, really do have to take care. Know staying at home is boring and frustrating. But it’s the only way to keep yourself protected. Doing simple errands, like the grocery is ok as long as you use hand sanitizer after you finish. Then wash your hands thoroughly when you get home, and after you unpack your groceries.
Yes, it hit home here too. Yesterday I found out that my daughter was sent home because someone tested positive to the coronavirus. She’s a chef for a big company in NYC. They closed the building because the man an older person in February started getting sick. Where I live we have highest rate of infected people. Westchester County. I heard last night that a gentleman from the casino by us who lived in New Jersey passed away & the Casino closed down. So I’m praying this issue gets resolved quick. It reminds me of the movie Contagion. You can use your Macys gift cards online too. It’s rare when I go to the stores because I do most of my shopping online. Macy’s is pretty good with returns, exchange & refunds if something is not to your liking or fit. As for the economic impact it was felt yesterday even more for many having to freeze stocks & 401K it’s just going lower & lower. I’m so tired of the news that I’ll just glance at it & turn it off.
I have never been keen on shopping but I went yeaterday; got 2 pair of shoes for under $20 ea! But with my injury it is painful - spent the rest of the day hurting :( Right now I'm at the public library.....the only access I have to a computer. In the computer room there are 5 of us right now w/ 12 computers but several dozen others in the open part of the library. I see several of the same people here most days I'm here. I have spent part of the morning reading other cake sites on the net......so many are posting about stores selling out of all kinds of products.......like sugar, flour, besides TP & sanitizers. It is crazy for sure. Don't think it has happened yet, but PResident Trump is talking about trying to keep people from traveling state to state. I wanted to go to the movies but that is on the no-no list :( So my days are very boring! Can't go shoppping, to the movies, out to eat! Nothing to do!:( The economic impact to going to be HUGE all over the world. So many people will try to continue working because they cannot afford to stay home w/the kids etc. My daughter works at a school and they are thinking of closing w/unpaid impact. BTW: she finanly went to a dr & was diagnosed w/bronchitis. Though she has been sick in one way or another since Dec I have not...... Thank the Good Lord! Well my 2 hrs allowed on the computer are almost up. At least I can use my phone for CC - what little is going on here.
kakeladi, you are in a library! Find you some good books to read! Reading is still my favorite pass time and I prefer reading real books.
Sorry kakeladi/Lynne your daughter has been ill. Thankfully you haven’t. Do you live in a senior’s apartment/residence??? Or do you live with your daughter?? No internet where you live??? I think I will be reading a lot of books for the next 3 weeks, and probably helping out with my grandchildren. All city recreational facilities have been closed for the next 3 weeks. Schools closed. Theatre’s, museums, libraries, just about everything and all things are closed. It’s March break next week. Parents are gonna go nutty with no place to take there children. Not even sure the movie theatres will operate. Usually at March break the theatres can hold over 200 people, and there usually filled. But considering large gatherings are being discouraged, find it hard to believe that this will be allowed???? I sure wouldn’t take a chance with my grandkids. We had planned a movie day weeks ago. But that’s not happening now. This whole situation is so very strange.
Yes I live w/daughter in a senior mobile home park She works for a school system & has been sick almost since the day she started — being unused to being around kids — especially sick ones :( Her school is in a poor area; kids are sent to class even when they are up-chucking :( The school is closed at least next week then will be re-evaluated on a day to day We’ve been here 4 yrs & have been told internet connection will be forth coming “with-in weeks” the whole time Our theaters are multi screen seating maybe 75 ea w/ 10-15 screens all in one building
kakeladi/Lynne
As of yesterday EVERYTHING is in lockdown here in the city where I live. Schools, recreational facilities, museums, you name it, shut down for 3 weeks. Both my children and spouses will be working from home. As for the movie theatres, we have 2 in town. One is huge, 10 screens with about 225-250 capacity per screen. Second theatre has I think four screens, and only 50 capacity per. Hubby just said that Cineplex, our largest theatre owner, is going to limit the amount of people per screen. How many people, I don’t know. And once you’re inside, you have to be spaced out. There website isn’t very good, so there’s not much information.
I think this is one time it is really handy to live out in the sticks where there are few people.
I’m scheduled to supply bkfst treats for church in the am Can’t find any info if service is canceled or not so I’ll drive over ready w/ my homemade sweet breads & fruit to see if anyone shows Daughter seems better already since on antibiotics The library was open today...we’ll see about tomorrow— usually is from noon to 5 Can’t decide if I want to try for the movies tomorrow or not Already sooo tired of nothing else but virus news
I couldn’t imagine living in the “sticks” Sandra. Be ok for a little while, but I know I’m a city girl at heart.
Our church services are cancelled today. Don’t know for how long. Everyone will watch remotely, on YouTube. I was sick last week and watched the service. This time I do believe the service will include the worship team. That’s normally not shown. Pastor suggested we gather in groups and sing as we always do.
It’s going to seem strange over the next 3 weeks. Not going to any of my fitness classes. And my hubby usually plays hockey 3 x’s a week. I know we’re retired, but too much together time, isn’t a good thing!!!! Thankfully, hubby is off to his monthly card game with his friends this afternoon. I started a new book. With lots of time on my hands, won’t take long to finish. Libraries here are still open , for now, with shortened hours. Don’t know how long that will last. Thank goodness I have a ton of unread books. A good friend buys a lot of books, and then lends them to me.

Agreed. It makes me miss our acres in Alaska.
