Interested to hear what the going rate for starting decorators around the US? Culinary Grads, home decorators and experienced pros? Also we've had some concerns in the past that the per hour decorators maybe taking a little too much time on some cakes. Does anyone have a base rate per piece (obviously depending on complexity)? Thanks.

Are you asking about grocery store rates or what the home decorator is using to come up with their pricing?   The more  often one does a design the faster they should get   But putting pressure on them to be faster can lead to sloppy work or a very unhappy &/or unproductive person

Pay scale can definitely vary from state to state. From city, town and rural areas. Your rate is tied to you location. You obviously have to charge enough to make a profit, but you’re hourly rate will vary depending on location and experience.

I cannot even imagine being a production cake decorator!  For me, decorating is an art form, not for mass production, so I can be absolutely no help with your question.  I work for love, not money.
