How does everyone move around the cake slices that have been freshly sliced? I was using cake cardboard rounds but then it can get expensive real quick. I think rimless cookie sheets are a good idea and im considering that..does anyone have any other good suggestions?

You can use the same board over & over when Torrington   Cover it w/a glued on wax or parchment sheet   Yes a cookie sheet is good too

Sure, no reason in the world not to use the cake boards multiple times.  I just use my Fat Daddio cake lifter, though.  It looks like a pizza peel, but with a shorter handle.  If my layers are thoroughly chilled, most of the time I am comfortable moving them with just my hands.

I just move them around with my hands unless it is a super delicate cake or a very large cake (12" or larger).  Then I will break out the cake boards.

And definitely reuse those cake boards.

yeah — the cookie sheet is what I use for larger layers — I have the rimmed on one side cookie sheet — it never warped

I had the same problem of going through a lot of cake boards. I bought some acrylic disks to use. They work great, and are easy to clean. I got 4 for ~$20 on Amazon.

You can see one under this cake
