Hi,

 I am looking to bake a birthday cake for my partner. I am planning on doing a Vanilla sponge cake. I was just wondering if anyone would have an opinion on if Strawberry Jam & Vanilla buttercream frosting would be nice together? don't want it to end up a disappointment is all.

A very nice combination, indeed.  I just finished to top tier for a birthday cake and it is a fresh strawberry cake with Vanilla-Almond buttercream, so opposite from yours, but the same flavor combination.  It is one of my most requested.
