Hi there bakers, I am curious if anyone has ever used cream cheese icing on a geode cake. I am afraid it might melt the crystals,Has anyone had success doing this?

Hi sorry I don’t have any idea how that will work but wanted to let you know:                                  Since you are new to this site you will not be able to reply to any post for about 30 days so if you want to reply to any post just make a new post referring to this one

I've only made one geode cake and it was covered with fondant.  I would be a bit afraid to put the crystals right into the cream cheese or any other buttercream type frosting.  When you make a geode cake, however, you carve out the cavity which will hold the crystals and cover it with frosting and fondant before applying the crystals.  I see no reason why you could not do exactly the same thing on a cake frosted with cream cheese frosting.  The crystals would not come into contact with the cream cheese, or only minimally around the edges.
