Is it the norm to use artificial flowers for wedding cakes? If so is there a particular kind to use? I make custom cakes all the time but this is the first time making a wedding cake. It's just a very simple two tier cake with buttercream icing and flowers on top and cascading down the cake. Thanks in advance.

I have done several weddings where the bride wanted artificial flowers and they were very pretty. I use them on my dummy wedding cakes that   I have on display and get very favorable feedback on them. It's all in what the bride wants.

Why the need for artificial ones?  Why not make them out of fondant &/or gumpaste or even air dried buttercream?
