Hi, I’m making a buttercream frosted cake with fondant stripes, the cake is “oh the places you’ll go by dr suess”.  The bottom tier will have 4 strips of fondant around it with the elephants, Horton, adhered to the stripes. Should I adhere the stripes to a thin piece of fondant first then put around the cake. The strips are about 32” long and a little hard to handle because of the length.  I just wonder if that will be to much weight for the cake. Any advice would be appreciated!!! Thanks

Once you have the stripes cut lightly dust w/ cornstarch & roll up lightly - makes them much easier to handle-just unroll to apply on the cake   They are stripes of fondant why adhere to more fondant?  Once they are on the cake allow the stripes to dry a bit say 10 minutes? Then add your animals w/a fab of icing or liquid —don’t use too much—just a little bit   Fold in place for maybe 30 seconds to be sure they stay on ok   As long as you keep those animals thin there should not be a problem

horizontal stripes can be a bear to apply — good luck —
