Airbrushing Color Onto Fondant Ribbon

Hi. I am doing a cake for tomorrow. I'm making a fondant "ribbon" to go around the base of the cake. I am going to airbrush it with gold luster dust mixed with everclear and need to do that today. How do I get the color to dry but not the fondant? The ribbon needs to be pliable so that I can wrap it around the cake once I set it up at the reception. But I don't want it to be tacky from the color....
me, I would brush the color on on site wet or dry
it's very easy -- done it many times -- but you can also apply the ribbon before you deliver too -- either way -- I would place the already ribboned tier on a larger cake circle and just lift it off on site ribbon and all -- might need a tad of adjustment and a touch up on the paint -- sometimes I would roll the fondant out on site too and cut, apply & paint the ribbon -- 10,000 ways to go
I agree with everyone else, paint it after it has been applied to t he cake. I would not dirty up the airbrush for it, lol.
