I would use gum paste to create the silver rods on the sides, roll out into a long, thick rope, flatten slightly with a rolling pin, then cut the shape with a sharp knife. Let dry until firm enough to move to the cake, two or three days. Gum paste would work well for the screws, too. Just roll into a small snake shape, rolling thinner in the middle (giving it a waist), then flare the other end slightly by pressing on the counter. Hope this makes sense and helps a bit.
