I've been asked to do a cake of this drum. Does anybody have feedback on how to do the silver rods on the side? I also wasn't sure how to do the screws on the rim. Any advice is appreciated!

I would use gum paste to create the silver rods on the sides, roll out into a long, thick rope, flatten slightly with a rolling pin, then cut the shape with a sharp knife.  Let dry until firm enough to move to the cake, two or three days.  Gum paste would work well for the screws, too.  Just roll into a small snake shape, rolling thinner in the middle (giving it a waist), then flare the other end slightly by pressing on the counter.  Hope this makes sense and helps a bit.

Sandra that’s exactly what I envisioned but didn’t know how to put it into words

Kakeladi, I am not sure I explained very well.  I hope it makes sense.
