Hello all,

I have an order coming up for a 50th anniversary cake where the couple want to recreate their original cake. It was CHERRY NUT CAKE!!! Now, I’ve baked a LOT of cakes, but this is the first time I can honestly say I’ve never even HEARD of it!

Does anyone have any insight on this type of cake...or have a failsafe recipe they’re willing to share?

I know I could look it up on the web, but I wanted to ask here first since I trust your opinions, information and experience.

Thanks!!!

Meredith

Wellll.....yes I have made one.....I  suggest using the WASC recipe with a cherry chip mix & 1/3 cup well chopped nuts   Can’t find the cherry mix?  then use a white or French vanilla or even a yellow mix adding either fresh, canned, or fzn cherries along w/the nuts

Thanks, Kakeladi! Do you use walnuts or pecans?

I just don’t remember:(   Pecans probably   Somehow seems to me cherries and pecans are related

@Kakeladi - I have no idea why this cake is making me so nervous.....

if you don't mind, I have another question.

Im using fresh cherries, but should I replace some of the WASC liquid with maraschino cherry juice? Or is the cherry chip mix enough?

aaaaaaaaaaaaah!

You could   Depends on what the original cake was   Adding juice will increase the flavor a bit & color it pink   Not sure you’re customer will care    Relax don’t make this harder than it has to be:)

Ack!!! I don’t know if I have time :(.

maybe I’ll leave it out.

Or....add it to some of my extra vanilla cake batter I’m making now and see what happens.

just mix an extra bit of cake and bake a tiny little layer right before you bake the bigger batch — even a cupcake — although a little 4-6 incher would be better — if it’s fine, great — if not you haven’t lost the whole batch
