Hi, can anyone recommend a good cake pan? I bought some  Silverwood tins and just can’t get on with them

The information you give makes it sound like you are not in the US.  This makes a difference.  Here we recommend Fat Dimino's or Magic Line 2" deep pans.

I just took a quick peek at Silverwood's home page and their pans looks fabulous.  Due to their construction, there may be tips for the best results, but I don't know that for sure.  One of our most popular brands, Fat Daddio, are made from annodized aluminum.  They feel different to the touch, not as silky smooth as regular aluminum.  For best results, when using them, the oven should be about 25 degrees F. lower than you would normally bake.  If you try baking at the same temp, the outsides will over cook rapidly.  Also, it is not recommended that they be washed in the dish washer.

You might want to give the lower temp a try.
