Hey, So I am new on the forum and new to decorating cakes, though not baking them.  Seeing people's cakes and advice has been very inspirational. I am making my sister's wedding cake, chocolate cake with raspberry curd and german buttercream frosting (i.e. egg custard that is cooled and added to whipped butter). I will be using a thick dam:)

My question is, and I apologize if I explain this poorly:  Should I try to layer the 2 fillings on top of one another between one cake layer (meaning- cake layer, curd and then BC, layer of cake), or should I alternate the fillings between the cake layers, (meaning- cake layer, curd, cake layer, buttercream, cake layer)?

If this is answered somewhere else, you can just direct me to the thread.

Thanks in advance

I would suggest option two  that you described up there -- but you know this buttercream has to be kept cold right?

Here’s another one agreeing w/option 2 :)

I also agree that alternating would be the better option.
