Alllrighty...here we go again! As many of you know now, I’m a serial undercharger, both because I’m clueless and working on my confidence when it comes to determining what my cakes are truly worth.

A repeat customer is back again trying to pay base-cake prices for something like the cake below:

Extra Charge For Hibiscus Flowers?I mean - ruffles, no problem. But fondant flamingo and hibiscus flowers ( plus some fondant pineapples apparently...)!

iknow Pricing is different everywhere, but I charge $4/slice for fondant cakes, $3.50 for buttercream.

just wondering how much to tack on for hers specific extras since I’m ALWAYS WRONG!

I'd probably do +$25 depending on how many flowers and pineapples (and their size). Really cute cake.

And if she wants to pay the base price, she can get it in buttercream and still pay extra for the flowers, flamingo, and the pineapples.

That bird & one flower alone deserve an extra $10  & on top she wants pineapple

Well it cut off part of my reply    With pineapples thrown on there’s another $10 depending on how big you make them & how many

RKT? It still has to be decorated. Draw a loooooooooong line because she sounds like she is going to push you to the edge.

Oh Lordy - I think you’re right. I guess people just don’t understand how much effort and skill go into a cake like this? It’s hard not to get insulted after the millionth question, like “Now can we meet halfway in a parking lot somewhere so I don’t have to pay your over 10-mile delivery fee?”.

They don't understand. I was one of those people before I got in to baking, buuuut I didn't nit pick and try to haggle. Those that want to transport their own cakes are fine by me, so long as they sign where it says that I am not responsible for any damage to the cake. No, I won't drive 45 minutes to come fix it because you drove like a Nascar driver, taking corners at 90 lmao! Hopefully you get it all worked out, but stick to your guns and don't let her drive you crazy! Please post the cake when you're done. I'd love to see it!

I would charge at least $30 extra dollars for the decorations, minimum, and those ruffles on the bottom will take a while, too.  Meet you half way, my foot!    Either deliver it all the way and make her pay a reasonable delivery fee or make her pick it up herself.  You do not need that kind of cheapskate for a customer.  If she can't afford it, she doesn't deserve it.  Sorry I sound so ugly, but I hate entitled people.  I have been known to tell people who don't like my prices to do it themselves.

do not ever agree to a half way pick up like that -- how many people you know would be on time -- you will be on time -- will they? who knows --

practice this in the mirror -- "the base price for this cake $8 per serving with a minimum price of $250 whichever is greater"
