Looking for advice on making a cherry flavored cake. What do you use to create the cherry flavor? Will an extract work and if so, how much to use per single cake.

Don't know if it's still available but there was a cherry chip cake mix (betty crocker) yrs back. Another option would be to use cherry pie filling mixed into the batter or some frozen cherries well drained or don't drain but use the liquid to replace all or some of the water for mixing the cake mix batter.
