So, first I'd like to say hi everyone!!! I used to come on cake central a lot but life happened. However this forum and a Wilton class taught me everything I know about decorating and so I'm back with a question.
My life kind of crashed and burned about two years ago, messy split with ex and all that jazz, so I haven't made a cake in about 3 years (crazy right?). That said a special birthday is coming up and I want to make a kick butt cake however I need input on flavor combinations. I don't need to be completely gourmet but my goal is to impress. Also, I'm not a scratch Baker, so boxix with pudding is my go to. Idk if that's still the thing around here or not.
So I have some frozen huckleberries (kind of like tiny tart blueberries, and they're ah-mazing in pancakes!) And I was thinking white cake with white chocolate pudding, with a cream cheese huckleberry filling, regular buttercream frosting then pour a dark chocolate ganache over it.
Does that sound awesome or so-so? Should I add nuts? Some other flavor? Throw whole idea out? My friend loves huckleberries, and we picked these on our first date last summer, so the huckleberries are the only part that I really want to keep.
