So there’s a request for a lavender cake, the recipe for which l’ll soon be trying.
They want to try it with rosemary buttercream. Which is nasty. I’ve made it by request before and the texture was fun, but rosemary should never be infused into buttercream!
They’re open to other frosting flavors too. I’d like to give them a couple options. Traditional vanilla of course...what else sounds good? I was thinking perhaps lemon.
Thanks
I've never had lavender, but I don't like the idea of a savory herb in buttercream.
I've had sage and Basil buttercreams, which aren't bad with lemon or strawberry. Rosemary is a little over powering for buttercream.
Lemon is always good with lavender. Or a take on a London Fog with Earl grey tea, vanilla and lavender. That's on my list to experiment with.
I am a tea drinker, big time, both hot and cold (no sweet tea, though), but I hate Earl Gray.
Haha, Lynne, I am glad I am not alone! Living in the South, I get a lot of weird looks when I order unsweetened tea and I would hate for my Brit friends to get hold of me for saying I hate Earl Gray, but I think it is nasty. Much too smoky for my taste.
freal -- i'm w/both of you on the earl thing >shudder<
