I'm going to attempt to use edible icing sheets for the first time to wrap around the side of the cake, and it sounds safer to place them onto a cake covered in sugarpaste/fondant than onto buttercream which I'd originally planned. How far in advance can I add the edible image to the cake before it is taken to an event? I was hoping to stack and cover the cake Thursday evening to present it at a party at lunchtime on the Saturday. Will I suffer with any image fading/blurring/falling off if that's too far in advance?

I've seen that it's easier to attach the edible image not long after I've covered the cakes as it'll stick, or I could wet the covered cake a little to then add the image to it afterwards but I'm worried that it will be on the cake too long prior to the event.

Any help would be great!

I don't think you're supposed to wet them much but i don't use them often either -- you don't want anything to condense on there because the ink will run

hope it all works out great
