Ok, silly question. What do you guys do to keep your frosting from getting too soft or warm while decorating?  I was piping roses and about 3 roses in I noticed that my formally stiff frosting was getting really soft. How do you keep that from happening?

Put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes to cool off and firm back up.  If you need to pipe a lot, try preparing two bags with the same color so when one gets too soft, switch to the second bag while the first one cools off.

Another thing some do is to keep a bowl  of ice water handy  and stick your hand in after every 2 or 3 roses.   I like the extra bag in the frig instead :)  Make up the bag w/a coupler - you don't need a tip - you'll switch it off the soft bag when ready.  Another thing I've heard of is to keep a cloth in the ice water, then wring it out well and wrap it around the bag -- but only if it's not a parchement one!
