Hi, my daughter will be 21 in a few weeks and we have ideas for decorations to go on the cake. I am going to buy a large iced cake from costco, the icing will be set when I bring it home; how can I place our decorations on top with the icing already set, would warm water unset it? Thanks

What are the decorations made of?   Icing, plastic?  You could make up a 'slurry' of powdered sugar w/a tiny bit of liquid (juice, water, whatever) - just enough to make a mud consistency.  It would only take maybe about 1/2 teaspoon/smear on the back/bottom of the decoration to hold it.  OR you could buy a can of frosting?  OR you could refrigerate or freeze the cake for maybe an hour - that should cause a bit of condensation if you home/room is warm - just enough to hold those decos.
