Hello all!

If I am incorporating fondant covered rice krispie treats as part of my cake topper...how early can I make them? Should I assume the fondant will keep them fresh, as it does so with cake?

Hi there! I’ve made them a week in advance and they’ve still been tasty - as long as you have the right amount of butter in there :).

It also helps to put a coat of candy melt or ganache over it before you cover it with fondant - that helps seal in the moisture and smooth out the Rice Krispie bumps ( or you can smash up the rice kripsies beforehand).

Good luck!

Liz Mareks recipe for making toppers works really well.

I have to admit ( shame on me), I buy my rct’s. I have a bulk store where I can purchase them cheap. Like 15 for like $1.99. #1, it’s soooo much easier and convenient. #2. If I make a pan of rct’s...I inevitably, I will eat half the pan before I use for making a figure!!! One of my kryptonite foods!!

Like MerMadeBakedGoods I also cover my rct’s with melted candy melts, or modeling chocolate. Really helps smooth out the bumps before you use your fondant/
