I’ve made buttercream a million times and it’s always turned out perfect! However, the last 4x I’ve made it my icing almost looks like it’s starting to separate or grainy looking. Today when I made it I made sure Butter was room temp and my stove hasn’t been on any today so my house isn’t warmer than usual. Can someone please help me get my Icing back to normal?!? FYI, it still tastes great and pipes well, just looks kind of grainy (see picture).

What exactly is the recipe you are using? Have yhou changed any brands? Looks like you have very cheap shortening &/or too much liquid. How long did you mix it? All of that is a factor. Think hard about what is different.......as I mention brands of ingrdedients, could you have left out some ingredients or mis measured?
