Hello everyone, I have a random request from a client to make a couple wilted gumpaste roses as a joke on a cake. I have made several alive looking roses but this request for wilted roses has me stumped. Any suggestions? Ty!!

I think of a bent stem first of all, then the flowers being more closed up, the petals flatter and less flared outward and brown on the edges.  I would make them quickly, then hang them sideways or upside down while drying so the petals are more collapsed and no longer full. maybe even make the petals crinkly if you can.  The wilted roses also seem to get darker in color, and more brown on the edges , the leaves too.  But especially the bent stem look.  Good luck.  That's  a first I think!

yortma has some good suggestions.   I remember one decorator insisting that *every* rose that has bloomed is on it's way to being dead sooooo always color the tips of the petals black!

Yes, very good suggestions from yortma.  kakeladi, there was something awfully sensical about the lady who insisted on making the edges of her roses black!  As a former Consulting Rosarian, Judge, Exhibitor and Teacher for the American Rose Society, I can assure you that MOST roses never have black tips on their petals, even after they do start to fade away.  That is just weird!
