Hi there everyone!! I just love this forum!! I think Ill be using this place as reference a lot more as I get into baking and decorating. I have started doing cakes about a year ago now. But only for friends and family. I am doing my Brother in Laws wedding cake. Strawberry Shortcake cupcakes, Salted Carmel filled Chocolate Cupcakes and a floating 4 tiered cheesecake. I am super excited but have ran into many bumps as I expected. The bump I just hit is a good edible glitter. In the past Ive used wiltons glitter dust. Its not very "glittery". More like shimmery. So does anyone have any advice how to get a more gliiter  than shimmer effect??  The bride really wants glitter but all I can find like that is disco dust and Ive read you arent supposed to ingest it. Any and all tips and advice are appreciated!!!

To my knowledge, there is no glittery colors approved for consumption and that includes dusts.

You will hear about "disco glitter" but be warned it is not edible!   It is nothing more than craft glitter - plastic bits ground up finer :(

Your best bet is either sanding sugar colored with an edible metallic dust like one of these

or a cellulose/gelatin based flake that you grind finer like these:

There are recipes to make your own gelatin based material that you can grind fine, too.

Keep in mind that nothing--NOTHING--that is edible will look like plastic glitter.  If that is necessary, a dummy tier with a barrier between cake that will be eaten may be your best bet.

As said above, disco dust/craft glitter/for decoration only glitter is not edible and should never be put on food.
