I’m having such a difficult time landing on an appropriate number (price) for a cake of this size ... it’s a double tall 8, double tall 6 and a 4” top (about 75 servings) It’s a simple design, but these things still take a lot of work to put together! Especially when you’re a perfectionist as I am. But still.. it IS quite simple. Your thoughts (and # figures) are appreciated!!

I'm in Canada too; so as we both know the ingredients cost a lot. I mean it really depends on the recipe's you are using..there's a big price difference between a crusting buttercream and an all butter IMBC. It's just one of those things you gotta put in the work for; cost out how much how much it costs you to make one batch of cake batter, buttercream..etc and multiply that with how much you will need to make this cake. Sorry there really is no shortcuts.

I'm new at this myself and I am just figuring out pricing.  One video on you tube that was very helpful was the pricing series from Krazy Kool Cakes.  I agree that even if it looks simple it takes and time and your time is worth something.  So don't forget to factor that in too.  Are you making the flowers, buying fresh ones?  That too!  Good luck!  :)

I would do some research in your area to see how much a serving of buttercream cake is (always a good idea to see what the average going price is).  Then I would add up ingredient costs, any equipment, non-edible items (such as cake board, flowers [if you aren't making them], etc), and your time.  Even though this is a 'simple' design doesn't mean that your labor hours are minimal.  That is a lot of cake to bake, frosting to make, stacking, filling, final touches, etc.  Don't cut yourself short...that is something I am still trying to work on because I have found pricing (mainly asking people to pay certain prices) to be kind of difficult.

I agree w/the others..  There are soooooo many factors involved only you can figure out - You are going to have to do the work.

my only comment is that this is not a simple design -- takes a fair amount of expertise
