How Was This Texture Made?

Hi CC! So I struggle with doing the whole "textured" cake technique. I guess I want things to look uniform! Any who, does any one know how the bottom tier of this cake was textured? And how did they get that ombre look? I'm pretty sure it wasnt airbrush. Thanks for the help!.

I am seeing a very pixelated picture. hard to tell
the ombre could be brushed on dust -- easy peasy
the texture could be imitated by piping little dits & dots of icing onto smoothy smooth crusting buttercream or fondant then smudged back & forth with a spatula -- this is probably not the only way but you could get there from here
I found a better version of the picture...
Basically it looks like they just took some crusting butter cream and roughly spread it on the cake and then added bits of gold leaf.
Thank you guys! I wasnt sure if it was a crusted buttercream or something else. Wish me luck!
best to you, miss.r, please feel free to give me/us some photos of your sweet creation
Thank you all for the help on this one. The mommy to be cried and said it looked better than the picture!
Yes, it does, Miss.Reynolds! You so rocked this cake!
