Walmart Great Value Fondant
Decorating By emergeartistry Updated 25 May 2018 , 5:12pm by SandraSmiley
Hi all! I’m new here, sort of… I’ve been a baker and decorator for years and I have used the forms as a reference point but have never bothered with creating an account until now. I’ve been doing a fair amount of decorating these days so I thought it would be helpful! Anyway, I just wondered if anyone has any experience with the Walmart great value brand of fondant. I have searched it here in the forums but it appears no one has used it or commented on it, one woman started a thread but everyone told her they had never heard of it and she was most likely thinking of Wilton, but they do in fact have fondant and had for a few years but I’ve never bothered to use it or purchase it. I used satin ice for a while but I completely loathe it, especially living here in Arizona as it tends to dry out so fast it’s almost unusable. Mona Lisa is great, But I don’t always need to buy in the volume they sell their product in. Wilton is OK but not my favorite. I know you would think Walmart would be a brand to avoid, but every once in a while their great value brand really surprises me with quality so I thought I’d ask if anyone had tried it. If not I will give it a go and report back!
i'm clueless -- please report back -- thank you for offering -- best to you
I've never seen or heard of it before either. Have you tried making your own marshmallow fondant? I use Lizzo Marek's recipe all the time and it is very soft and pliable, almost too much so sometimes here in the humid south. Also, it is very inexpensive to make and tastes better than commercial products because you can flavor it any way you like.
