I am finding so many different answers, so I figured I would start a new conversation. I need a cake that will feed 60-70 people. What size sheet cake should I be doing?  Do you usually do a filling inside your 2inch sheet cake? I thought maybe i could put two layers of cake with filling to reduce the surface area of the cake (creating a 4inch cake). Can I bake them in 9x13 pans and just stick them together with buttercream?

Thank ya'll for helping a cake sista out!

I would do a half plus a quarter sheet cake.  Sheet cakes generally do not get torted or filled, but if asked, I would do it.  I also wouldn’t call it a sheet cake anymore if you baked up 2 layers.Sheet Cake For 60-70 People

If you only have a 9x13 pan, then you are going to have to use 3 layers.  I would make each just 2" tall putting 2 of them side-by-side on a 1/2 sheet board, then the 3rd layers on it's own obard (cut to 12x8) on top of those.  For serving cut them into 2x2x2 sqs for a total of 72.  A 2x2x2 sq is a bit  more cake than a 'normal sized' cupcake.
