Has anyone done this style of icing or can point me towards a tutorial? I have a bride that wants me to replicate the cake. I really like the look.

I am a newbie at cake decoration but if I have to do this and not getting any suggestion or help, I would ice the cake layers smoothly & thn pipe the waves/zigzag lines with royal icing with may be tip no.2. I would try the tip size beforehand. Hopefully someone experienced will give you the best idea..

I would do exactly as Minileo suggested, except I would just use the same buttercream to pipe the wavy lines.  We have some master pipers on this site - kakeladi and -K8memphis for two - and they will probably step in and tell you how it's done.

would pipe in buttercream and have a smooth towel ready to pat the roundness down -- it looks a little flattened yes?

very pretty

I do recall ?s being asked about this style before on this site and most replies were what you have already been given.  It will take some  practice getting the tip just close enough for the icing to stayput yet far enough away to ge able to see what you are doing and get the 'wave' effect.   I don't think I agree w/ K8 about it feling flattened - just gofor it - practice 1st of course :)
