Hi Everyone!

I'm an engineering student at Northeastern University in Boston who is working on building a robotic cake decorator. Imagine a 3D printer, but with frosting. The idea is for it to be able to perform repetitive or precise tasks for bakers who decorate a lot of cakes. It could frost a tray of individual cupcakes, or add bordering, lettering and other decorations to the top of any cake from 1" to 9" inches tall.

We're looking for feedback from the baking community on personal baking habits, and the machine's potential as a consumer product. If you have a few minutes to spare, please fill out a short google survey for us. If you are interested in knowing more about the project we can provide a more detailed explanation of the machine and an update at the end of the project this April, just leave your email in the additional comments at the end!

Thanks!

In my opinion, a machine of this type would turn cake decorating into paint-by-number.  If that is the kind of cake you want, go to Walmart.
