Hi! Hope someone can shed some light on my question.

I'll be doing the linked cake design above, with a real cake (carved 6"x5"x6 base tier) and the disco ball made of RKT. Girl in the middle wil be gumpaste. My question is what type of internal structure can be made to support this design?

Any suggestions please? TIA

To me one would use a dowel wrapped in gumpaste  as the girl's leg when making the figure.  That dowel would go all the way throught the cake into the base board.   The actual cake only would need tier support.   best to dowel if it goes over 4" tall - so make a 6"x4" tier, add straws for support then place the 5" and the other 6" layer together as a tier on top of it.

What kakeldai said.  In the picture you can see the dowel goes from the disco ball and down into the cake and then it seems like the figure is placed right in front of the dowel to slightly disguise it.
