I need help so A while back I bought some gold luster Dust from my local cake store and it was a disaster no matter what I mixed with it it turned green. I thought it was something I was doing but both containers dis the same thing. I wasn't able to give the customer what they wanted which was disappointing.
Okay 2 weeks later I have another gold cake and once again luster dust is turning green. I thought maybe the luster dust or alcohol was reacting with the metal on my paint brush so o switched to plastic. It stayed gold but after a while turned green again.
Anyone have answers for this or tips?. I have no idea what's going on..
If I had to guess, I would say it is probably the brand of dust you are using. Have you tried other brands?
weird -- but i tell yeah i have purchased lusterless "luster" dust too -- no tellin' what's in that stuff
the place i bought the lusterless luster dust said no refund -- oh well -- whatever --
That is terrible that you pay good money for something that is supposed to be gold and it turns green. Doesn't seem fair that they don't stand behind their product. I guess because they know it does not work and stay gold. So sorry that you had to waste your money on a useless product. I am sure people here who have used a product that works can tell you the name of the good products and you may be able to order them on line so you will have something that works like it should. I have never used it so I can't give you any brand names.
Oddly enough, I had a green experience today. I made homemade edible fabric a couple of weeks ago and colored it with Idea Gold dust, which is a bright, shiny gold that I've used for a couple of years. I've never had any problem with it changing colors, but I noticed that one of the pieces of edible fabric, that started out gold, is now a nice grass green! It has to be something to do with the chemical compound or ph because I know that dust if fine.
