Does anyone know any tutorial or video that shows how to make this flower? What is this flower even called ?
I have tried making it but have been mostly unsuccessful. Any tips or if there are any tutorials, can you please give me the link.
Thanks
Pooja
Yes, exactly - a rose. What's different about it is that it is meant to be a bud just opening. See how the center 3 or 4 petals are tight then each petal after that opend a bit more - is looser. Also notice how the color changes from a somewhat dark center to almost white outter petals? That is important too :)
Yes, youtube has many tutorials on fondant, gum paste or buttercream roses. I love making flowers on cakes but I prefer buttercream flowers over any other kind. To each his own, I say. You will learn a whole lot from watching the tutorials depending on which rose you prefer to put on your cakes.
Hi there, I believe you can learn something very similar in faye cahills craftsy tutorial online. It's called Layered embellishments. You use circle cutters and let them dry formed for a little before adding them to the flower. It starts with a styrofoam ball.
I can't remember who posted the tutorial that showed a rose similar to this. But the tightness of the center was achieved by putting the edge of the second petal you add inside at about the center of the first petal, if that makes a lick of sense! You don't fasten the edge of each petal but place the new one inside the previous one. You keep doing this and gradually open the petals. Good luck!
Yeah it looks like a rose, but all the tutorials i came across, have not been able to make this rose. I ll try and see if I can make it.
This tutorial by Kara's Coutour Cakes shows a center like the pictue. Just like
I make all of my tea roses that way.

This tutorial by Kara's Coutour Cakes shows a center like the pictue. Just like @cutiger said, wrap the first three petals tightly around the central cone, then, with all additional petals, leave one side loose (not glued, detached) and tuck the edge of the next petal behind it. This creates the spiral you seek. If you want a loose, floppy look, like the rose pictures, just stand your petals straight up instead of curling the top edge in a natural manner.
