How all !

A customer wanted to know if I was able to duplicate this cake. I believe that I can, but I am unsure how to exactly go about Simba on the front. Any suggestions, tools, or advice would be awesome.

Thank you in advance blush

To me this appears to be royal icing on black fondant, but I would do it by cutting out the different colors from gum paste and building the 2-D figure.  The black lines I would paint with edible colors.  It would need to be done several days...maybe even a week...in advance to allow plenty of drying time.  Same with the trees.  This is the method I used to do Mickey.

The pic  you offef shows  color flow (run-out).  That's what I would do but Sandra uses gp a lot so naturally she would think of that :)  To me that would make it unedible - yes it is edible but almost no one would eat it whereas color flow is a little more edible IMHO.  The background green trees?leaves? are fondant cutouts probably.

LOL - @kakeladi ‍, I think the RI is actually prettier, but I am afraid of it!
