I have been asked to bake cupcakes for a wedding. They have sent out 170 invitations. They did not do rsvp's. They will have a 1/2 sheet cake there as well. How many cupcakes should I make? There will be 3 different flavors. Also whatever amount of cupcakes you think I should make how many batches of the indydebies frosting should I make if using a 1M tip?

Thank you for all your help!!

Is this a paid job or a gift? If this is an order from a customer I would ask them how many cupcakes they want to pay for. I think 100 seems reasonable but if they want extra or to be safe they can pay for 120

chances are they won't have 150 attendees if they sent 170 invites. And the half sheet should serve 50 I think

Do you think 100-120 is actually enough? I guess I am just wanting to ensure they don't run out. I am not getting paid she is just providing money for the supplies. If they sent out 170 invites I would assume most people will be bringing at least one person with them and some are bigger families. I am just not sure how many I should do.

I suggest  200.  Most invites are for a couple- 2 people.  If everyone comes that would mean about 340 guests! - but I think the 'rule of thumb' is to figure on something like 75% come and then only 75-80% eat cake.  One cuppie per person in enough but w/several different flavors some might want to try more than one flavor.   Let the sheet make up for any more.    BTW: in my opnion the bride should be doing this figureing.  Let her tell you how many she wants.
