I am baking cupcakes for an event on Wednesday. Can I bake on Monday and put them in the box container until I ice them on Tuesday night?

You sure can. I always wrap my box in a layer of Saran Wrap to keep air from getting in to the little openings if the box doesn't close properly. They taste just as fresh 3 days later as the day I made them.
