Hello!
I signed up for Wilton Masterclass Buttercream, fondant and gumpaste all in a 2 week period in Chicago, i am traveling from China to take this course exclusivley!
Today i got an email saying that the class might be canceled due to low attendance, I am really dissapointed, let alone all the money i have spent!! How UNRELIABLE!!
The class is supposed to happen in 2 weeks!
I spent over 2000usd to go there, paid about 2000usd in hotel, plus all the internal flight expenses and tfe course fees which all together is 2600usd.
Anyone have a a recomendation of a more RELIABLE school anywhere in the USA or Canada to take a similar course?? i am really worried and very disappointed!!
Would appreciate recommendations!!!
:(
Oh I feel you pain and dissapointment! :( I know you can take the classes individually at many stores in the US but don't know of anywhere it is given all in one like you signed up for. There is still a bit of hope for you.....the class hasn't been cancelled yet.....
Wilton has control over some of that. You should certainly let them know how expensive it was for you, and how much you will lose if they cancel. They may then decide to run a lower enrollment class because so many expenses are not refundable!
The canceld the class.
I explained my situation and they did not seem to care at all. At first they sugested to take private lessons at a whooping 500usd a day thinking I would say no, being left with no choice tight on time and really wanting to take the class I said ok, I would take them and then there reply was "sorry to be honest we cant give you private lessons we are just not ready for it, the school director does not want to do it"
why offer it in the first place? How can they not be ready for it if they were holding a master class! How unprofesional!
Sorry but i feel i am beeing played, just bc they are one of the big guys doesnt mean they can play with customers this way, my recommendation based just on customer service would be NO GO WITH WILTON MASTER CLASS!
I thought Wilton was serious, commited and worth the money, aparently not, so watch out!
BTW I found an alternative similar to Wilton called PME classes, similar curriculum and they have better reviews online, they have classes in Texas, Miami, Illinois too.
Definitely contact Sandy at the Wilton School. She may be able to help.
Nick Lodge in Atlanta, Georgia has some classes in that time period: https://www.nicholaslodge.com/classes
Cake Camp in Las Vegas, NV is Aug. 10-13. Don't know if it's still open for enrollment. http://cacakeclub.com/cakecamp/
Best of luck in finding something. Your hotel should be fully refundable, the tuition is refundable, and you should get back some of your flight costs [or some sort of credit toward a future flight]. I know it won't be 100% making you whole, but no sense wasting time & money if just being a tourist isn't what you want.
