Hi everyone,

I have been decorating sheet cakes and single tier cakes with BC for years! I'm ready to try my hand at fondant and multi tier cakes and I have a couple of questions. :)

For decorating with fondant, do I need to make a denser cake? I have this fear of the fondant crushing my cake!

For multi-tier cakes, is there special packaging I can order? I'm struggling with how to package a simple two tier cake if my customer wants to pick it up from me.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

@C3creations ‍, I do use a more dense, pound cake-like recipe (Original WASC posted on this sight) for fondant covered cakes and stacking,  They are just much more stable and easy to handle.

For packing, I use cardboard boxes.  The grocery and liquor stores have good, sturdy ones, or, if you need them to be plain on the outside without advertisements, they can be purchased from an office supply store.

The *original* WASC cake recipe:  http://www.cakecentral.com/recipe/7445/the-original-wasc-cake-recipe       And a great icing recipe to use with it:  http://www.cakecentral.com/recipe/22469/2-icing  I'm afraid I'm going to have to tell you Sandra is *wrong* :(   Do not use cardboard boxes from  stores.  I have worked in many a grocery store and know that those boxes are NOT clean!   If you could see what runs over/on them, inside & out you would cringe!  Buy boxes at Office Depot or similar.  WalMart even carries some.  Most tiered cakes should be delivered by the creator.  The general public does not know how to handle them.  Most do not ever reach their destination unharmed.  YOU are the one who knows how to handle/deliver them.  That's why many of us include a few $$ in the total price to cover the cost of your gas & time to deliver.

SORRY @C3creations ‍and @kakeladi ‍!  The boxes LOOK clean and I never thought of such a thing as "something" running all over them!  Fortunately for me, I have a whole truck load of brand new, unfolded, never used, straight from the manufacturer, various sizes of heavy duty cardboard boxes that were given to me by an employee who's job it was to get rid of the over runs.

Again, sorry for the bad info!! :o((

Thank you both for the info! I can't wait to create my first multi-tier cake with the recipe provided!

Have a great day!
