I need to make another fire engine truck, but this one I will build and cover with fondant. How do I get REAL FIRE engine red and not rose or watered down red on icing? Thanks, I see alot of fire trucks in my future and would appreciate any help in this.

I would like to know this one too. Maybe you can start with pink and get it really red after that.

I use Chefmaster Red-Red and sometimes super red, and it comes out pretty close to fire engine red! I used it in buttercream on my fire truck cake, and recently on fondant in a cowboy themed baby shower cake. Check out those pics and see if you think they are red enough...

The absolute easiest way is to buy red fondant. Satin Ice makes red. Cost more, but it is definitely a good red.

Me too. I would buy Red Satin Ice or if you want to color your own, color it as red as you can get it and then airbrush it with red airbrush color.

Thank you all for your help. I used the Americolor red and wow, it came out red! The fire truck was a big hit at the party!
