I came across an amazing cake by Emily Hankins on Instagram the other day and I was wondering if anyone knows how she did it? I have attached a picture of this cake (hopefully successfully)! I am particularly interested in how she got the stripes so perfect with the flowers looking like they are perfectly over the top of the stripes. Thank you so much for any advice anyone can give! :D
Thank you for replying so fast! I do know that she is well known for her cocoa butter hand painting on cakes and I thought this was another example but I didn't know how she could get the stripes so precise and also the flowers to look like they are over the top of the stripes. Perhaps she is just very skilled at hand painting! Something to aspire to!!
She maybe did paint using stencils to make the lines straight.
I went on her site and blew up the picture and I believe the stripes have been painted on using a stencil and the flowers appear to have been painted on either a thin sheet of gum paste (and cut out) or wafer paper and applied over the lines.
Ahhh, yes that would make so much sense to cut out and applied over the top! Thank you everyone! This one had been going around in my head for some time! It's nice to have an idea of how it was done!
