I was wondering what the best way to recommend for a wedding client wrap their top tier for their first anniversary before freezing...  I was thinking a double layer of plastic wrap and maybe an outer layer of foil for extra protection?

Wold this work? Or is there a better way?  Thank you!

That's exactly what I did, and it was just as delicious a year later. :)

Yes, that is exactly how it's done.   Make a cross (+) of the plastic wrap, place the cake on it and place in fzr several hours until the cake is hard.  Remove and wrap completely, then do another + of the foil.   Never wrap cake in foil alone.
