Sugar Glaze For Leaves Question
Decorating By kristiemarie Updated 5 Jun 2017 , 2:39am by kristiemarie
So I made some sugar glaze for my flowers. I used 50/50 vodka and corn syrup.
I left them overnight about 12 hours and they are still tacky. Did I do something wrong? Will they ever be not be tacky?
thanks!!
What is your weather like? Is it hot and humid? Maybe they just need more time. I don't recall ever using such a mixture so not sure if that will do the trick.
I found the recipe online somewhere. It didn't say anything about it remaining tacky but it also didn't say anything about it not being tacky. It is not humid here at all ---28%. It feels like it's getting better now but maybe it's my imagination.
Thanks for replying!!
Well the good news is that the leaves are still shiny. The bad news is that 36 hour shift later they are still tacky.
I have used this kind of glaze, @kristiemarie and it will eventually dry, but it takes weeks. I just resign myself that they are going to be a bit sticky. I've also tried using a higher percentage of alcohol to syrup, which helps a little and gives a slightly less mirror shine (more natural). I know there is a commercial product available, but I've never tried it.
Thank you!
i actually felt a few of them and they are getting less tacky.
I think next time I'll use more alcohol.
