I was shipping online and was thinking of investing in some petal dusts. I was wondering if it's worth buying petal dusts or is it just better to colour some fondant a bit darker and some lighter to make a rose.
also, does anyone know if the chocolate roxy & rich brand petal dusts any good?
thank you ❤️
Roxy & Rich makes excellent products. Their dusts are edible, unlike many other dusts that are not edible [so are limited to use only on decorations that are removed and will not be eaten]. This makes them well worth the cost.
The look you get when you shade with dusts is different than just using different shades of fondant. The dusts allow variegated shading, rather than "block" shading.
Thank you very much :) yeahh I see people using it online but wasn't sure! I feel like it's an investment because there are so many colours and you don't really know what you'll end up using!
@Cakesbybliss, think of it the same way you would build your paint box, primary colors - blue, yellow and red, secondary colors - green, purple and orange. Add white, black and brown and you can mix just about any color you desire. Of course, it is fun to add new colors as you go, but these are the basics and will give you a good start.

Thank you sandrasmiley :) that's a great idea!
Petal dust can make a flower look so much better. You can add subtle highlights or darker spots. definitly invest.
