Hi all,

Im a "recreational" baker I guess you could say. :) I've been asked to do some cupcakes and a cake for my moms 60th birthday party on Saturday. The cake will be covered in fondant, so I will make that on Friday night and keep it covered and out on he cake stand once it reaches the venue. However,9 of the cupcakes will have buttercream frosting and 9 will have mostly buttercream, but with a piece of fondant inside (they are "burger" cupcakes, ive attached a little picture of what I'll be doing. The "cheese" will be a fondant slice). As you can see, the top of the cupcakes are bare, so I'm a little concerned about them drying out but also worried that the fondant will get sticky if I keep them in an airtight container for 5 hours.

I need to be leaving my house with the cakes at 1pm but the party doesn't begin until 6. I will only be at the venue until about 3 at the latest and will be leaving the cupcakes there. How should I store the them from the time I leave my house, until i leave the venue? Also, will they all be fine to be set up on the cupcake stand from about 3pm onwards? Will the burger cupcakes be dry by the time they're eaten at the party?

Thanks!

There is no picture to refer to but...... Brush the tops (any exposed cake) w/piping gel to seal.     The should be just fine left in a cake box on a counter.

I haven't ever heard of piping gel, would Michaels have it?
