I have made the loops ready to be assembled, I made them using shop bought white fondant, coloured with gel colours and with added tylose powder to harden it. When I have come to them, on the loop itself they have started to crack and I am worried that when I come to assemble the bow they will just crumble completely! I have looked at endless tutorials and thought I had this one in the bag...obviously not! It's the first time I've ever made one and it's meant to be the main centre piece for the cake so I'm unsure what to do if they break, aside from starting completely afresh and hoping they have time to harden up before making the cake. Any tips on making these or why my fondant may have cracked? They were only made around 12 hours ago, they have already started to firm up quite a bit and already started to crack?! Any help appreciated

It may be that you added too much tylo? Unfortunately that has happened to me. I have found making the thing completely out of flower paste to be the best thing as it doesn't crack or if it's something to assemble on the cake in the day to just make it from fondant and place it on the cake! X

I agree w/the other poster.......a bit too much Tylose :(  I have succesfully made bow loops from straight fondant - allowed to dry overnight.

Sorry for the late reply, I had trouble logging in! THanks for the tips, I made some from flower paste and they held up really well unfortunately just as I was about to transport the cake I heard something drop and when I checked it one of my fondant loops had completely snapped then when trying to fix it  more of them kept cracking! But after a small tantrum from me and a talking up from my boyfriend and my sister I managed to fix the problem and it turned out ok, in the future I think I will definitely make them all from flower paste
