I'm making a belly cake for a baby shower this weekend and it's my first one. I don't think I'll have any issues other than time. How soon in advance can I make the cake and it'll still taste good for Saturday?
While a lot can depend on the type cake you use, if you freeze the cake, you can bake it any time now.
If you don't want to freeze the layers, you could bake and ice on Thursday, finish on Friday and be ready for Saturday with no problems!!

i'm going to try gum paste shoes and I know those will need time to dry. I'm buying supplies tonight and i'll probably do a test run on the decorations for the cake tomorrow. eeek! so excited!
