Will blue sprinkles work like funfetti in a cake?

Are you adding them into the batter or the frosting? And I would go for different shades of blue, but not sugar sprinkles. I highly recommend those small flat circular sprinkles (like the ones you would find on a Baskin Robin's ice cream cake, I can't remember what they're called).

I am adding them into the batter, I wasn't going to use sugar sprinkles, I'm thinking of the jimmies, or non pareils
