Hi! If I am making a tiered castle cake but the bottom tier will be a dummy. The castle turrets have a flat, plastic base( it's the Wilton castle set ). When I have used them before I hallowed out a hole in the cake for the turrets to stand in. I can't do that to the dummy cake, can I? Would it be possible to attach them to the top and if so how otherwise I will have to put it on the sides of the cake attached to the cake board, correct? Thanks!

Sure you can.  It will be messy but you can carve the styrofoam.
