Help! I'm fairly new to cake decorating and am making a 5 layer rainbow cake with 8 inch rounds for a bday party this weekend.
Do I need any support between the layers or will I be ok? I plan to use Indydebi's buttercream and cover with fondarific fondant.
Thank you!
maybe -- if it will be over 5" tall you need to consider securing it somehow -- because it could slide but it probably would not collapse like a tier cake without support --
so how tall will each layer be?
i mean maybe just one dowel down the middle for stability -- maybe not -- how tall will it be?
Oh goodness I imagine at least 1.25 to 1.50 inches tall per layer.
Something like this photo:
Thank you!l
Thank you! This will be a lego cake with fondant lego's "spilling" over the side.
I'm wondering if i should make the fondant legos on a smaller scale vs real size legos (so heavy) so they do not pull off the fondant used to cover the cake. I planned to secure them with toothpicks and piping gel.
Suggestions?
Can't wait to see pics of the finished cake!
I would only add a support in if I was travelling a fair distance with the cake, otherwise it should be fine.
